About the Role
We are seeking a safety-minded individual to work as a Rail Yard Controller on a 5/5 Roster, working 12 hour shifts both day & night, based in Acacia Ridge, QLD. As a Yard Controller, you will be responsible for managing and directing the movement of trains /wagons within the rail yard.

About the Role
We are seeking a safety-minded individual to work as a Rail Yard Controller on a 5/5 Roster, working 12 hour shifts both day & night, based in Acacia Ridge, QLD. As a Yard Controller, you will be responsible for managing and directing the movement of trains /wagons within the rail yard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Authorising and directing movements: Giving approval for trains to depart, arrive, and move within the yard.
- Communication: Maintaining constant communication with train drivers and other personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Scheduling and recording: Keeping track of train schedules, recording departures and arrivals, and managing train movements on a schedule.
- Track and activity management: Authorising and controlling all activities on the tracks, including maintenance work.
- Emergency response: Liaising with emergency services like police and ambulance in the event of an accident or disruption.
- Troubleshooting: Finding solutions to delays and disruptions to keep trains running on time, while also making recommendations for alternative services.
- Paid Training: Get paid while you learn! Trojan Rail funds both your wages and the training costs.
- Nationally Recognised Training: Training provided by Challenger Training.
- Training Rate: $30.35 per hour + superannuation
- After completing training you will be assigned to our client on $57 per hour + superannuation
- Paid Classroom & Practical Training: Learn in the classroom and on the job in Gladstone, QLD (accommodation is provided).
- On-the-Job Mentoring & Assessment: Support from experienced professionals to ensure your success.
- Concentration and alertness: The job requires being fully focused and alert to monitor all train and track activity.
- Quick thinking: The ability to rapidly re-plan train movements in case of an emergency.
- Planning: Making careful and precise plans to avoid mistakes.
- Communication: Clearly and effectively communicating with drivers and other staff.
- Calmness: Remaining calm under pressure, especially during emergencies.
- Rail CAT 1 Medical Clearance (including musculoskeletal test)
- Australian Full Driver’s License (no restrictions)
- A valid Police Check with no court disclosable outcomes
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
