As a Wagon Maintainer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of rail wagons to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
For the duration of the classroom training program, you will be paid $29.33 gross per hour plus super’

About the Role
As a Wagon Maintainer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of rail wagons to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
For the duration of the classroom training program, you will be paid $29.33 gross per hour plus super’
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, repair, and maintain rail wagons, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards
- Perform scheduled servicing, component replacement, and modifications as required
- Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting on wagon components, including brakes, couplings, and suspension systems
- Safely communicate using radios in a rail environment
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment

- Experience working with a Tier 1 Australian rail operator
- A pathway to build skills and begin a long-term career in the rail industry
- Be able to complete a Rail CAT 1 Medical Clearance (including musculoskeletal test)
- Australian Class C Driver’s License (no restrictions)
- White Card
- LF Forklift Licence (or be willing to obtain one)
- HR Vehicle Licence (or be willing to obtain one)
- Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes)
- First Aid certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
- Experience in rail wagon repairs and maintenance
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and all-weather environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
