About the role:

Trojan Rail is currently looking to appoint a casual and qualified Wagon Maintainer based in Townsville, QLD.
  • Maintain and repair wagons, including scheduled servicing of wagons
  • Undertake wagon maintenance in-field, such as unscheduled maintenance, recovery and collision damage wagons
  • Construct and assemble components for repair/replacement/modification to wagons
  • Abide by Safety, Health and Environment policies
  • Perform welding and similar activities
Requirements for the ideal candidate:
  • Ability to Pass Rail CAT1 medical, inclusive of musculoskeletal test
  • Australian Driver’s License (no restrictions)
  • Statement of Attainment of TLI units that align to job role for Host Employer
  • Police clearance with no court outcomes
  • Experience with rail wagon repairs and maintenance
  • Forklift ticket
  • Heavy vehicle licence
  • First aid certificate
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections of rail wagons to identify any damage or malfunctions
  • Repair or replace damaged components, such as brakes, couplings, and suspension systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct tests to ensure the wagons are safe and meet all operational requirements
  • Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects and work at heights
