About the Role

We are seeking an Experienced Locomotive Provisions Assistant looking to join our team in Melbourne, VIC. As a Locomotive Provisions Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with train operations, communicating & providing support to Train Crew working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
If training is required another rate will apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Train Preparation & Departure Readiness: Assist with locomotive and wagon pre-start checks, brake testing, and provisioning tasks (e.g. fuel, water, supplies).
• Securing Trains: Ensure rolling stock is correctly braked and secured as per network standards.
• Train Crew Assistance: Provide support to Locomotive Drivers including radio communication, signal relay, and movement direction.
• Rail Safety Practices: Strict adherence to safeworking rules, corridor access procedures, and network-specific protocols.
• Inspections: Support routine inspections of wagons and locomotives to identify visible issues.
• Equipment Care: Maintain cleanliness and serviceability of radios, torches, safety gear, and tools. 

Requirements – What You Need to Succeed:

• Rail CAT 1 Medical Clearance (including musculoskeletal test)
• Australian Full Driver’s License (no restrictions)
• Relevant Rail TLI Unit Statements of Attainment aligned with the role
• Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills Highly Regarded (Desirable but Not Essential)
• First Aid Certificate
• Forklift Ticket
