With the resource industry moving forward and multiple projects in the pipeline, the mining, resources & energy sector is facing a skills shortage.

While there is still an element of underemployment in the industry, the landscape has started to change. Blue-collar workers are in high demand; from dump truck operators through to tradespeople. And most technically-skilled candidates are already employed full-time, or on long-term contracts.

What’s more, online job boards have started losing their effectiveness. Employers can no longer post a job ad and expect a plethora of suitably qualified candidates.

That means companies who need to scale up at short notice will be faced with a tight talent pool and limited means of getting in front of candidates.

Trojan provides unparalleled recruiting expertise and an in-depth knowledge of Australia’s mining, resources and energy jobs market. Our team of dedicated recruitment consultants bring a wealth of local market knowledge and, over the years, we’ve built an enormous national database of candidates, making it easy for you to scale up or down quickly.

We also use recruiting methods that aren’t widely available, including talent search to get in front of passive candidates who are in demand and no longer reliant on job boards to find a role.

We’re serious about safety

WHS hazards, such as coal dust inhalation, hearing damage and chemical hazards are still a problem in the sector. However, the changing nature of work, particularly in mining, has led to a number of new issues.

This means that it’s more important than ever to take a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to workplace safety and to ensure all workers are compliant.

At Trojan, safety comes first. Our WHS management system is accredited to international safety standard AS/NZS 4801:2001 AS/NZS 4801. All Trojan staff are also continually advised of their WHS responsibilities during safety induction training, weekly safety communications and toolbox talks.
