Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory management - Oversee and managing the receiving, handling and storing of material; tools; equipment and PPE. Conduct regular stock takes and update records. Coordinate and organise timely replenishment to minimise shortages in stock levels to ensure projects are not delayed.
  • Supervise staff  - Manage and assign tasks to the warehouse and yard staff including drivers. Conduct training and inductions of new team members and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Operational efficiency - develop and implement efficient processes and layout within the business to optimize storage and delivery of tools and equipment, including retrieval of tools from site using "Share my Toolbox app" ensuring smooth and timely operations and reduction in costs.
  • Equipment Maintenance - Conduct regular inspection of tools, equipment and machinery ensuring they are in good and safe working order. All tools and equipment are labelled, logged and as required or booked in for repairs / preventative maintenance in a timely manner to ensure availability and avoid delays on site. This includes servicing of forklifts, company vehicles and trucks.
  • Safety and Compliance - Enforce safety protocols as per company policies. Assist with creating a safety conscious environment, ensuring all activities within the workplace adhere to WHS regulations. 
  • Coordination and Communication - Liaise on a regular basis with the operations manager and other departments and team members within the business as required. Creating of all work orders. allocation of materials and tools - scheduling of deliveries with truck drivers.  
Required for the role
  • Have 2 - 3 years warehouse management exp. within the steel, construction or heavy manufacturing sector is preferred not essential
  • Current and valid forklift licence
  • Intermediate computer skills - Word ,Excel and Outlook
  • Previous experience mentoring or training staff 
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Think on your feet attitude with an ability to overcome challenges with effective solutions implementation
