About the Role: Rail Maintenance Support Officer

As a Rail Maintenance Support Officer, you will be essential to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our client's services. This dynamic role involves collaborating closely with the Maintenance Team, Operations, and Planners to meet all terminal operational requirements safely and effectively.

You will receive $50 gross casual flat rate per hour after completing 6 weeks of training at a rate of $32.25 gross per hour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shift Work: Work a 4-on, 4-off roster, covering both day and night shifts (12-hour shifts from 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am).
  • Inspections and Checks: Conduct full train examinations and roll-by inspections to ensure locomotives and rolling stock are safe for travel.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist with routine maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and emergency repairs of wagons.
  • Equipment Operation and Shunting: Safely operate tools, machinery, and mobile equipment, and perform shunting duties to marshal wagons as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in regular safety briefings to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately maintain all necessary records and documentation.
  • Liaison and Coordination: Collaborate with planners, contractors, supervisors, and team members to coordinate wagon movements and resolve any wagon-related issues.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Licences: A current Driver’s Licence is required.
